After World war II period, the Journal had been published every month with up to 1000 copies . The Journal disseminated the results of the operational work of meteorologists, scientific and methodological research activity in the broad field of hydrometeorological and agro meteorological forecasting.
The Journal of Hydrometcentre of Russia continued to publish in the difficult 90s. At least 4 issues have been released annually.
Since December 1, 2015, the Journal has been included in the list of peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The main editor of the journal is Vilfand Roman M., Scientific supervisor of FGBU "Hydrometeorological Center of Russia", Doctor of Technical Sciences, Honored Meteorologist of the Russian Federation.
Department of scientific and technical information of Hydrometcentre of Russia in close collaboration with the Еditorial board is in charge to prepare regular issue of the journal.

Each contributed paper to the edition is dedicated work of scientists of the Hydrometcentre of Russia, including the founders of well known science schools in the fields of numerical weather forecasts, aviation meteorology, hydrological forecasts, marine hydrological forecasts.
